Event Timetable

The Fells Marathon is a busy and exciting weekend, with teams, leaders and volunteers all arriving, preparing and taking part at different points across the event. This outline timetable is here to help everyone understand what happens, when it happens, and where they need to be throughout the weekend.

Please use this as a guide to help you plan ahead, arrive prepared and make sure you do not miss any important parts of the event. The exact flow of the weekend may vary slightly, but the timetable below gives a clear overview of what to expect. 


Friday

Arrival and Check-In

From 6:00pm
Teams begin to arrive on site. Please park where directed and report to Event Control in the main building to check in with the Admin Team.

All members of each team must attend check-in in order to receive their wristbands.

All adult volunteers aged 18 and over must also check in with the Admin Team so that we have a full and accurate record of everyone on site.

Map Control

7:00pm – 10:00pm
Map Control is open, and all teams must attend on Friday evening.

Once checked in, all members of the team should go to Map Control to have their maps and route cards checked and signed off. Teams are encouraged to do this as early as possible after arriving.

Please note: leaders are not permitted in Map Control.

Young People’s Briefing

10:00pm
All young people from all teams must gather in the barn for the event briefing.

Leader Briefing

10:45pm
A final event update meeting will take place for all leaders.

Food will be available for leaders during the meeting, so just remember to bring a drink with you.

Saturday

Breakfast for Staff and Leaders

7:00am
Breakfast is available for staff and leaders who have requested it and paid for it in advance.

Radio and Checkpoint Collection

7:00am – 8:30am
Sweep Teams and 4x4 Response Teams should collect their radios from HSCT.

Checkpoint Teams should collect their radios from HSCT and checkpoint equipment from the Checkpoint Manager.

Kit Check

From 8:00am
Kit check opens for all teams on a first come, first served basis.

Once a team enters kit check, they will continue through the process and on to the start. Teams should make sure they are fully ready before entering.

Remedial Map Control

8:15am
Map Control reopens for any teams that need to complete remedial actions following Friday night’s checks.

Event Start

From 8:30am
The first teams will start after handing in their paperwork.

The final teams are expected to leave by around 10:00am.

Arrival at the Overnight Site

From 2:30pm
Teams begin arriving at the overnight site.

Only Fells Marathon teams are permitted on the overnight site.


Sunday

Breakfast for Staff and Leaders

7:00am
Breakfast is available for staff and leaders who have requested it and paid for it in advance.

Teams Prepare to Leave Overnight Site

From 7:00am
Young people get up, prepare breakfast and pack away tents and personal equipment ready for departure.

Radio and Checkpoint Collection

7:00am – 8:30am
Sweep Teams and 4x4 Response Teams collect radios.

Checkpoint Teams collect radios and checkpoint kit from the Checkpoint Manager.

Sunday Start

From 8:00am
Teams begin leaving the overnight site.

Starts are on a first come, first served basis, so teams that are up, packed and ready early will be able to get away sooner.

First Teams Return

Approximately 11:00am
The first teams are expected to arrive back at the Finish Checkpoint.

Once finished, teams will wait in the barn until their leaders have returned to site.

A snack will be provided for returning teams.

Presentation

Approximately 3:00pm
Certificates and trophies will be presented.


Important Reminders

  • All teams must attend Map Control on Friday night.

Leaders are not permitted in Map Control.

Kit check on Saturday morning is first come, first served.

Only event teams are allowed on the overnight site.

Sunday departures from the overnight site are also first come, first served.
